difference between emo and goth

I know I have seemed to continually hash on this point, but it is still important to note that the emo and goth subcultures are two separate and distinct subgroups. There is, thus, a very real and very tangible difference between emo and goth. The simple difference is an absolute difference in ideology. They do not think the same and thus they are not the same.

In fact, they are entirely different. The emo subculture is based on the outpouring of emotion that I have talked about in the past. Their theories are thus based around emotional feelings: love, hate, and whatnot. The goth culture is much more based on darkness and the contrast in dark and light.

Cute Goth Girls Defy Definition

cute goth girls
The definition of beauty within the world of our fathers was so very limited. Beautiful was that girl, blonde hair, blue eyes, cheerleader, and no mental capabilities. That was beautiful. But today’s world is defying that standard. Now, suddenly, it is possible to find beauty within all subcultures. Cute goth girls exemplify this fact.

They are the complete antithesis to what was once defined as attractive. They are dark, dark haired, sharp-witted, and about as far away from cheerleader as you can think of. But they are beautiful and people can recognize that now.

The Emo hairstyles used to be reserved only for those that designated themselves as “emo” or “goth.” However, today, the emo hairstyle is widely accepted as a general look sported by many across the nation. The hair draped over the eyes, the length and styling, all of these factors contributed to its worldwide success. Everybody wants an emo haircut now, not because of an addition to that subculture, but quite simply, because it looks cool.
