Goth Emo Music is a Defining Quality

goth emo music
The thing that most firmly defines the subcultures of Goth and emo is their music. Goth emo music each has its own distinct and individual flavor. Many times those unknowing few who clump the two together will say that these musical types are the same but nothing in the world could be further from the truth.

If you listen to goth music it is usually of the screaming and dark variety. Like their choice of clothing, gothic music is the type that is haunting, dark, and oftentimes profound. Emo music is centered around emotions, both positive and negative, and thus is very lyrical.

Emo or Goth Test Help Differentiate

emo or goth test
There are a multitude of tests you can take online. Personality tests determine what kind of personality type you are and thus what type of people you would associate well with, what kind of profession you would do well in, and a multitude of other things. In the same token, emo or goth tests are beneficial as well.

These kinds of tests help to differentiate those who are Goths and those who are Emo. It instantly shows that there are very real differences between the two groups and that they are entirely separate entities from one another. In addition, if you yourself were at all confused as to your classification, it could help in that regard as well.

Emo and Goth Layouts Provide Individuality in a Futuristic Age

emo and goth layouts
The world used to be such a simpler place. In the past, the place to display our individualism and our own sense of understanding and worth and personality and identity was through creation of artwork and sculpture and any other such figure. How, today, the world is a slightly different place and those things are not looked upon and valued the same.

Today, the place for our individualistic sides to scream out is online and through the internet. Thus, layouts and whatnot are our new art to display ourselves. Emo and goth layouts, therefore, provide an outlet and expression for who we are and become an art of a new age.

Emo and Goth Stores and Shops Pervading even the Malls

emo and goth stores and shops
This is how you know that the emo and goth subcultures are here to stay: emo and goth stores and shops have pervaded even into common society in the forms of opening up within malls and other such establishments. It is simple: emo and goth clothing and accessories sell. For that reason, malls have opened their doors to such stores and they are extremely successful.

Think of places like Hot Topic. They are so commonplace now that we do not even really think about what they are and what they represent. They are the goth and emo subcultures making it firmly into the mainstream of today and we should all be appreciative of what that means.

Emo and goth art: The renaissance of our time

Emo and goth art

Few people seem to truly appreciate emo and goth art. But, if you think about it, in so many ways it is the renaissance of our time. Sure, they do not create works like that of the legendary Michelangelo or some of the other amazing artists of that time, but they represent art today and, often, they are the only kind of art that we can find.

They provide insights into the emotions that they are feeling, the heart that they have, and is not this what art is really and truly all about? Some display incredible skill in the art that they create and their representation of reality can oftentimes be very beautiful.

Punk Goth Emo Represent Three Somewhat Related but Different Groups

punk goth emo
The problem with our society is that we often classify, stereotype, and group people together in unfair ways. Yes, punk goth emo do share some similarities as subgroups of the greater overall popular culture, but that does not make them the same. They each have distinct differences in what defines them.

The easiest way to see this is to simply look at the music that they listen to. Our music is often a definition or auditory display of who we are. Quite simply, punks listen to punk music, Goths listen to hard metal music, and emo kids listen to emo music. That is a generalization but it displays the differences therein.

Emo Clothes are Still Hot

emo clothesI was walking through a university campus recently and I saw a group of new college freshman wearing emo clothes. Emo clothes are still very popular right now, and it continues to appeal to the younger generations. Kids are drawn to this style of clothing because they relate to the style of music that are sung by artists who themselves wear emo clothing.

Pete Wentz of Fall Out Boy owns the emo clothing brand Clandestine Industries, which sells the essential emo clothing such as really slim fit hoodies, slim fit t shirts, belts, and emo accessories. These clothes are pretty pricey though with t shirts from 30 dollars to hoodies for 70 dollars.
